Synopsis:
Isolated and plunged into their own beliefs, tribes ruled by a poet and a bishop called Morlak are fighting an old enemy in 19th-century Montenegro. Gravely ill, Morlak leaves in search of a cure. Along with his daughter and two loyal servants, he settles in a house in southern Italy. His most faithful companion, Djuko, struggles with severe nostalgia. Driven by the fear of the Master’s death in a foreign land, he sends himself to the boundaries of his abilities and imagination.
